Traditional strength training relies too heavily on single plane loading and stable environments. These are not transferable to real life or sports. Yes, traditional strength training can be fantastic for building muscle and strength, but it is a wildly inefficient process to strengthen the body for the real world and more importantly specific sporting endeavours.

Moreover, traditional strength training misses key foundations which must be in place for long-term success and decreasing risk of injury. If the bodies alignment is off or the core cannot engage appropriately, it is only a matter of time before pain sets in or results plateau. 

As mentioned above functional strength training is designed to most effectively enable you for the task at hand; whether that be taking the groceries up stairs, improve your golf game or make you a beast on the footy field. 

For most of us, we just want to feel better, move better and look better. When we take care of the first two, the last one always seems to fall into place. 

We tend to underestimate the physicality of everyday life. For example, getting into your car is a single legged squat with rotation, a fairly advanced exercise if you ask me. 

There are plenty of examples but the point is to be resilient to all the physical challenges of life. 

The CHEK approach to functional training is a system that focuses on teaching the body to move in the most efficient way possible. This approach is based on the principle that the body is designed to move in certain patterns, and that these patterns are the most effective way to perform tasks. The CHEK approach uses a variety of exercises and drills to teach the body these patterns.

For example, exercises may be used to teach the body how to properly squat, lunge, and deadlift. In addition, the chek approach emphasises correct form and technique. This ensures that the body is moving in the most efficient way possible and reduces the risk of injury. The CHEK approach is an effective system for teaching the body to move correctly and efficiently.

There is no one-size-fits-all answer to the question of how many personal training sessions you should have. The number of sessions you have will depend on your budget, availability, and need for accountability. On average, most clients meet with their fitness instructors one to three sessions per week (an average of twice).

While personal training programs are an investment, the fitness experience shouldn’t create more stress. Determine the appropriate budget to create the accountability you desire and the freedom to choose a personal trainer with the exercise and diet approach as well as the expertise you need.

A personal trainer can help you reach your fitness goals, but ultimately it’s up to you to decide how many sessions you need in order to achieve those goals.

Yes, it sounds like you would be more suited to our exercise rehabilitation sessions, along with an initial assessment to see where your pain/injury it stemming from. Our rehabilitation sessions are designed to get you out of pain, and are a much less intense program. 

At Integrated Coaching Solutions, we believe that health is more than just exercise, and we believe that everyone should have access to a health coach.
